Smile, darlings

Strange Miracle
O Wondrous creatures,
By what strange miracle
Do you so often
Not smile?

Forever Dance
I am happy even before i have a reason.
I am full of Light even before the sky
Can greet the sun or moon.
Dear companions,
We have been in love with God
For so very, very long.
What can Hafiz now do but Forever
Dance!

My Brilliant Image
One day
the sun admitted,
I am just a shadow.
I wish I could show you
The infinite Incandescence
That had cast my brilliant image!
I wish I could show you,
When you are lonely or in darkness,
The Astonishing Light
Of your own Being!

I seek refuge in God from Satan, the accursed.

"(God) has revealed to me that you should adopt humility so that
no one oppresses another."
-Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him

"She said: 'Keep your treasures,
Me, I'm worth more than that.
Bars are still bars even if made of gold.
I want the same rights as you
and respect for each day,
Me, I want only love.'"
-Aicha by Khaled

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Being
rich does not mean having a great amount of property, but
[it] is being content [with what one has]."

"Lord knows the way she feels
Everyday in His name she begins."
-Aicha by Outlandish

"Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever has not kindness has not faith."
-Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him

A person once asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be
upon him): "What is faith?" The Prophet replied: "When a
good deed becomes a source of pleasure for you and an
evil deed becomes a source of disgust, then you are a
believer."

Narrated Masruq: "I asked (the Prophet Muhammad's wife)
Aisha which (good) deed was most loved by the Prophet.
She said: 'A deed done continuously.'"

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Shall I
tell you who are the best among you?...The best of you are
those who when seen are a means of God being brought to
mind."

Respect.

rain dance of a lifetime

Move one foot in front of the other
Your shoes soggy from the rain
No pain, Like the sea
Slippery and carefree
Let yourself go
And feel what’s around you.
Look up and taste the water like it's an ocean
Slow motion –
Each cold droplet fall, race on your face.
Remember Who made you
And why you’re here,
And the good times are near.
Smile and laugh
Play and sing
Forget the bitterness.
And grow old this way
Hold hands and swing in circles I say
Capture the nostalgia
And be young again. Sin-less.
Youth is innocence.
And innocence is integrity.
Keep on, one foot in front of the other.
Keep on, dance through life and thank Him.

Fajr Prayer

I wake up to perform my morning prayer
I think, SubhanAllah, I remembered my Creator
I turn on the faucet and look at the running water a bit too long
Long enough to see what's wrong.
In the water I'm afraid to see my reflection
To see the grime and filth and dirt
wash away into the pure. As I cleanse myself,
I see what I'm cleaning
and I see that I'm screaming
because I have no humility.
What is wrong with me?
How can I pat myself on the back,
say, "Good job, how good I am - I woke up for Fajr"
When soon enough after the prayer,
I'll fall back asleep,
and forget my Creator.

a grain of rice is a lot bigger than an atom

I hate it when I go to websites and learn that if I donate money, I'll feed _____ amount of children. I hate it when I see all these great things people are doing, such as Sami Yusuf, WFP, etc. because I, too, really want to just do something. I wanna help and get involved and be like the other active youngsters around the world. I wish I could just help the world so much that I alone make a big difference. It's annoying when you see things on the internet asking if you want to help a little girl in Afghanistan or Nigeria or Bangladesh or Palestine or Somalia, or wherever achieve her dreams - get her an education to be the journalist she's always wanted to become. I hate it when I see that because I'm like "YES! YES, I DO WANT TO HELP!" And I click it, and it asks me to donate. I feel like I'll never get anything done until I am an adult out of college with a job with my own pay. I can't do anything because I'm not making money myself. It's so...disappointing, upsetting, obnoxious even, that I just have to wait. Life (mine and the chilld's) is slipping away, I want to help, but oh, I can't do anything about it. Ugh! I want to be active. There needs to be some alternative than just donating. I would give up much of my time if I could help any other way.

If anyone at all knows websites or programs/foundations that have other ways of doing this please let me know. The only one I know of is FreeRice. Sometimes people feel like they're not actually making a difference by playing but they ARE.
[Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!]—Holy Qur'an, sura 99 Az-Zalzala, ayat 7-8

[Surely God does not do injustice to the weight of an atom, and if it is a good deed He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.]—Holy Qur'an, sura 4 An-Nisa, ayah 40
You can play here.

Rainbows

By Aysha Adrees

What will it take
For us to look past
Differences and faults
And enjoy individuality?
Do we all have to be color blind
To get along?
‘Rainbows’
Should not be hated
For they are a creation of God
And they keep the world smiling.
Brown dirt is needed for the green grass to grow.
White clouds
Complement the blue sky very well.
If the world was colorless – water,
We’d all blend together
In a puddle of invisibility.

On Pain

On Pain

Your Pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses
your understanding.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its
heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

And could you keep your heart in wonder at the
daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem
less wondrous than your joy;

And you would accept the seasons of your heart,
even as you have always accepted the seasons that
pass over your fields.

And you would watch with serenity through the
winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.

It is the bitter potion by which the physician within
you heals your sick self.

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy
in silence and tranquility:

For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by
the tender hand of the Unseen,

And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has
been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has
moistened with His own sacred tears.

–Khalil Gibran

Just Watch it.

I'm telling you.
You seriously need to watch this. It's facetious. It's funny. And it's the hard cold truth. :)

"But that's okay." :D Best line.

the reward of Love

Of all the follies the greatest is to love the world. - Ali ibn Abu Talib

If you've ever suppressed your dislike for someone, looked past faults, felt something besides the differences - to please your Lord,
If you've ever loved anyone, your mom, your dad, a sister, a brother, a friend,
be grateful. Just as I always thought,
In the end it benefits you.

Narrated Abu Huraira (رضى الله عنه): The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Certainly, Allah will say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who love each other for the sake of My Glory? Today, I will shelter them in My shade; a Day when there is no shade but Mine.
(Sahih Muslim, Book 032, Number 6225)

Reward of love? Shade of God.

New Poems?

This title is misleading...It really should be "Poems I wrote a while back that I forgot to put up a long time ago that I am putting up now." :D

Oblivion.AyshaAdrees.
Each person in this world
His whole life
Runs around
Searching, here there, in people
in deserted streets
In piles of rubble in alleyways
In materials like gold, silver
Dollars
Rupees
Liras
Pesos.
Money & Wealth.
In books,
In gardens,
In pets,
In drunkenness and parties. “Fun.”
In socializing
In traveling to foreign lands
In food
In sand as well as sea
For what they call “peace”
‘Serenity”
“Happiness.”
But why do they do waste so much time searching, scavenging, trying again and again
And again
And again
And again
Til it becomes so very old, driving us humans crazy,
When we’re clearly told, and deep inside we are aware that,
True happiness
Comes only from remembering
The Beloved, our Lord
Even
Again and again and again
And a million plus times over.
 -----------------------------------------------
Flying Insects.AyshaAdrees.

As the horse treads through grass gracefully
Daintily, unintentionally catching flowers
On its hoof
I wonder
Can you, my dear horse,
Catch the insect-infested mud, too?
The sky catches
Luminous stars twinkling, glittering in the moonlight,
The sun proudly lighting the day,
Wispy clouds,
Planet Earth…
Just as it catches
Dirt.
Smoke.
Rubble.
Debris. And flying
Insects.

Lecture in 'The Hand of Poetry: Five Mystic Poets of Persia'

“There is only one thing in the world, and that is pure, unselfish love, which shows the sign of heaven, which shows the divine sign, which gives the proof of God. For all the noble qualities which are hidden in the soul will spring forth and come to bloom when love helps them and nurtures them. Man may have a great good in him, and he may be very intelligent, but as long as his heart is closed he cannot show that nobleness, that goodness, which is hidden in his heart…
…Love sees the Beloved and nothing else. As Rumi says, ‘Whether you love a human being or you love God, there will come a day when all lovers, either of man or of God, will be brought before the throne of Love and the presence of that only Beloved will reign there.’ What does this show? In loving our friend, in loving our neighbour, even in the love that one shows to one’s enemy, one only loves God. And the one who says, ‘I love God, but I cannot love man,’ he does not love God; he cannot. It is like saying, ‘I love you very much, but I do not like to look at your face.”
– Hazrat Inayat Khan

I am dust particles in sunlight.
I am the round sun.
To the bits of dust I say, ‘Stay.’
To the sun, ‘Keep moving.’
I am morning mist,
and the beginning of evening.
I am wind in the top of a grove,
and surf on the cliff.
Mast, rudder, helmsman, and keel,
I am also the coral reef they founder on.
I am a tree with a trained parrot in its branches.
Silence, thought, and voice.
The musical air coming through a flute,
a spark off a stone, a flickering
in metal. Both candle,
and the moth crazy around it.
Rose, and the nightingale
lost in the fragrance.
I am all orders of being, the circling galaxy,
the evolutionary intelligence, the lift,
and the falling away. What is,
and what isn’t. You who know
Jelaluddin, You the One
in all, say who
I am. Say I
am You.”
- Rumi, from THE HAND OF POETRY: FIVE MYSTIC POETS OF PERSIA

Spread the Word

Hey guys!

First of all, I forgot to say that a while back I got my essay published on the This I Believe website! You can check it out here:
http://thisibelieve.org/essay/98461/
I would also recommend reading essays by others. I remember that I reeeally liked Helen Keller's and Muhammad Ali's.

Also, I am going to be guest writing for another website called DharmaDeen which is about the alliance of Muslims and Hindus. The articles seem extremely effective in my opinion. They have great messages. Here's a video I saw that the website made.

DharmaDeen is a great blog but it is in lack of Muslim writers, so if you're interested, contact them. They also have a facebook page.

Peace*Love
